Whats In A Name?
Yesterday was another day of football! I actually enjoy football Sundays. The noises, the smells, the yelling, the crowds. Laying on the couch while Ryan cheers his favorite team on. Going to the sports bar and watching all the games on mulitple TV's. Yesterday I still didn't feel good and wasn't really in the mood. So, I decided to listen to the games and see if I heard any "could be" names for the baby.
hahahahahah. What a joke.
Here is the list I came up with!

Going into week 15!!!
Cant believe we are already into our 4 month. There isn't too much exciting going on right now. I am just barely showing and can feel my uterus nice and solid in there! It still isn't quite real when we are going about our every day and the 1st trimester symptoms are gone and we dont see the baby again till October....but, we are still so excited.
One thing I keep reading about early pregnancy is that your immune system basically stops working for Mommy and turns all of its strength and engery on Baby. Which, I am so thankful for....but for the past 5 days I have been battling Bronchitis and Strep Throat. NOT TOO FUN. My whole body hurts from coughing and sneezing and I haven't slept in 3 nights! Obviously it scared us when the doctor wanted to put me on some meds, but he reassured me with lots of literature and knowledge that the meds were rated an A on the pregnancy medication list! It is NO fun not having any meds in you when you cant breathe or sleep! Makes for a not too fun Mommy!
Going into month 4 we are supposed to feel great and have a lot more enegery. In 5 weeks we will find out what sex the baby is. We are so excited about finding out! We have been making bets but will be so so greatful for whatever it turns out to be! I will start to feel the baby in about 2 weeks. I think I felt it once already, but its very very hard to tell!
This trimester we are going to start working on the house. Lots of little projects to complete before baby comes! Once we know the sex we are going to start the nursery. We already have a few options picked out for how we want to decorate!
Ryan is aboslutely adorable with this whole thing. He is working extra hard to provide for us and is so concerned and compassionate about me and the baby! He cant wait to "see" my belly and "feel" the baby, then it will be more real to him!
We have our list of names on the fridge like my sister Rebecca had. We have pretty much decided on a girls name, but aren't even close on a boy!!! Suggestions welcome!
No new ultrasound pictures for another 5 weeks, but when we do get them you will really see a "baby" instead of a blob! We cant wait for that appointment!

So the other day I was driving downtown Tampa and I got stuck at an intersection that is actually pretty popular. Usually I have the music turned up and the radio on full blast, but that day I was contiplating a lot in my life and the car was quiet. So the knock on my car window scared the daylights out of me. It was a man. Not homeless. Not a begger. Not someone holding a card board sign. It was a regular, middle aged, nice looking man. He was holding a water bottle and a bucket that said $1.00. I kindly shook my head "no" and put my eyes to the front of the car.
That moment sank in my heart. I started wondering, what in the world has this man been going thru that he has to break down and sell water bottles on the side of the road. Was he so hard pressed that this is what it means for him to pay his bills? To feed his family? To put gas in his car? Does he have a car? All of these thoughts rushed through my head and I was just dumbfounded.
All of a sudden a commercial on our local christian radio station came on for a recent "Shoe Drive" they had just had. Theyve collected over 27,000 pairs of shoes for their popular DJ to take to kids over in Guatemala. I cant say that Im surprised, it seems that its so easy to just donate one or two things for a cause that we dont have to really get invovled in. Dont get me wrong, its all well and good to serve those less fortunate on other sides of the world, but there are men and women standing in our streets selling water bottles in order to afford a life.
Why aren't we doing anything for them?
We are. litethecity.com A movement in our church to bring hope to our communities right here that we live in. This past Saturday we went to a local homeless shelter and saw first hand what is really going on all around us. I challenge all of you to take a peak at our website and dare yourself to go beyond dropping off a pair of shoes at a local drop off location and get out there and help someone. Bring light to a life that has no light. Bring hope to someone that doesn't know how they are going to feed their children. Bring a smile to a little kids face. RIGHT HERE IN OUR OWN BACKYARDS.
I dare you to get invovled. To get dirty. To go beyond your comfort zone and see what God will do in YOU as you help someone else.
We aren't supposed to sit back and let someone else do it. We are called to go, preach the gospel and bring people to the kindgom of heaven. They are standing on the sides of the road all around us. Just look.

12 Weeks Down!
Yesterday we got to see our Itty Bit who is already 5 cm long, rolled over when we were watching the screen, and showed its sweet features to us! Two arms, two legs, strong heart beat of 188 bpm. We were blessed to get to share this special moment with Raschelles parents, who joined us for the appointment! We even got to hear the very fast heartbeat! We all teared up for that! The nurse was so funny with us, she was zooming in on all the features as best as possible and she even printed out 17 copies of different pictures! All looked good and the doctor was very positive about our growth! Still looking for due date of March 15th. One of the best days we've had in a long time and we are loving every minute!
